DIY – THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PROPULSION SYSTEM IN SPACE

List of equipment:

Cardboard and corrugated cardboard (bought for €2.20 for a 70x50cm roll at Cultura)

  • White and blue paint
  • Ribbons and fabric scraps
  • Glitter paper
  • 1 m of elastic strap
  • A pencil and a ruler
  • A brush
  • A cutter
  • Scissors
  • A hot glue gun
  • Liquid glue

The stages of the realization:

Step 1: Preparation of the different elements

Cut out the smooth cardboard elements and paint them white: 2 rectangles of 29x17cm; 1 rectangle of 53x13cm. Then, cut out the corrugated cardboard elements and paint them blue: 2 rectangles of 29x6cm; 4 rectangles of 29x2cm; 4 circles of 9cm in diameter.

Step 2 : The base of the thrusters

Form the cylinders of the propellers by rolling the large white rectangles then glue the blue corrugated cardboard circles at the top and bottom.

Step 3: Form the "ribbon thrusters"

Cut the 53x13cm rectangle diagonally into 2 triangles. Roll the cardboard into a spiral, leaving a 3cm diameter gap in the center to insert the ribbons. Glue the ribbons to the bottom of the propeller.

Step 4: The straps

Cut 50cm of elastic strap, form a loop to create a strap and glue it to the back of the rockets. Decorate and hold the straps by gluing the blue corrugated cardboard.

Step 5: Assembly

Assemble all the elements together with hot glue, cut out and glue two stars in glitter paper to decorate the space rocket. Your child is ready for his the moon !
