The list of equipment:
-
Newspaper
-
A balloon
-
Flour, sugar and water for homemade white glue
-
A cutter
-
White and gold paint
-
Baking soda
-
A brush
-
A pencil
Step 1: Prepare your homemade white glue
In a saucepan over low heat, whisk 2 tablespoons of flour + 1 teaspoon of sugar + 1/2 glass of water until thickened. Dilute with 1 glass of water and heat again a little.
Step 2: Form the paper sphere
To do this, cut out strips of newspaper and stick them over the entire surface of a well-inflated, round balloon. Make 2 or 3 layers of paper. Leave to dry for 24/48 hours.
Step 3: Painting the lamp
Leave the inflated balloon inside the paper ball and paint it with plaster effect paint. To do this, mix baking soda with white paint in equal quantities. Let it dry.
Step 4: Decorating the lamp
Ask your child to draw stars, rockets or the moon all over the balloon and cut them out with a cutter or scissors. Your balloon will pierce with your first cut of the cutter, so you can remove it and cleanly cut out the base of the lamp to then put it down.
Step 5: Finalization
Paint the inside of the lamp gold. When everything is dry, slide a string of lights inside the star lamp and let the magic happen...
And there you have it, your DIY light ball is now finished. Congratulations!
